Paradise-like housing, eating, and living
No paradise is complete without comfortable dens, delicious apples, and a few coins to have in your pocket (or whatever system of payment was used in the earlier times of paradise). We also want to give you new offers in regards to housing, provisions, and money. Take us at our word.
Living in the center
With regard to housing, there is no big problem in Jena. Altogether, there are approximately 3,000 beds in the student union dormitories. Furthermore, there are living offers from the big companies in Jena, such as Jena Wohnen. There are also private rooms and apartments. All of the inexpensive living possibilities can be reached by tram within a few minutes (which is free for you through your semester ticket). But we don’t just lay our hands in our laps when it comes to students requests for affordable living offers in the city center. Right now 260 flats are being renovated for the student union, and we are planning to achieve another 200 flats for students in the city center. The city is not lazy. This is how new one-room apartments are being completed near the center of town, which offer rent that students can afford. Lastly, we are currently working on a coordinated living space agency, which would not only combine the offers of the student union and the city, but also the offers of the private landlords as well. Click here every now and again. We will be sure to let you know about our progress.
Arriving and moving-in
No one has to sleep under the Saale river bridge in Jena. Not even during in the months surrounding the start of class. We promise you. Stop by the student union INFOTake if you need a bed. But keep in mind that you could end up in a pension if your inquiry has too short notice.
Eating and sleeping in one fell swoop: packets with more value
The program is already in place for our international students. We want to implement it for the others. The service packet: eating and sleeping. Right now the student union offers one-room and board at a total cost of 1,400 Euros (second living category) or 1,600 Euros (first living category) per semester (= 6 months). This sum also covers the semester fees. Ask for more details at the INFOTake.
Job meets student: job fairs for students
There are lots of tips for saving. But the tips only help if you have money which can be saved. One of our long-term goals is building up a student job market. We want to work in coordination with student agencies in order to help students solve their financial problems. Check back regularly in order to see how far we’ve come with our goals.
