For 450 years, Jena has been a student city. The approximate 20,000 university students and the almost 5,000 students at the College of Applied Sciences have a definite impact on the current appearance of the city. It is not just the student traditions that are the deciding factors for studying in Jena. The excellent research and the practice-oriented courses in Jena are held with an even higher regard.
The Friedrich Schiller University, the largest college of applied sciences in Thuringia, and several independent research institutes all help to give Jena its enormous breadth of scientific research and its extensive national and international scientific network.
